We are a grassroots group of family, friends, and neighbors who love our country and are committed to defending democracy at every level. We work to counter authoritarianism through strategic noncooperation and nonviolent action, using economic boycotts, withdrawal of support from unjust institutions, and other peaceful measures appropriate to the times to confront abuses of power. AVI partners with pro-democracy organizations that share our values and commitment to nonviolence, building coalitions that advance a fair, just and inclusive society.  

Founded in 2017 and reignited in 2024, AVI members have organized rallies and trainings, spoken out at public hearings, written Letters to the Editor, reached out to elected officials, educated our community, and stood in solidarity at events across Colorado. We believe in the rule of law, in amplifying the voices of the vulnerable, and in being allies and advocates for a more just and democratic society.
